Around the island. “Even a long trip on a small island, is a short trip”We checked out of the Penthouse of the Aston beach Waikiki and backtracked to the outlet malls for a bit of shopping before heading around the island of Oahu to the turtle bay resort on the north shore. Mom and dad keep telling us how this is the resort that they have always wanted to say at since, when they were here 26 years ago they couldn’t afford to. Money is a funny commodity. Some people who have lots are never happy, others who have little are very happy, and everyone in between daydreams about having more. Me, I have always been driven to be successful, whether or not that means rich is up for debate, but the older I get the more I feel I would rather be happy then rich. 26 years ago when the rents were here for the first time they couldn’t afford to stay at the turtle bay resort when this morning we checked out of the penthouse on the beach, downtown Waikiki. Just goes to show what hard work will do for someone. The tour around the eastern shore of the island was pretty cool. Waikiki was cloudy, the north shore; sunny. Quite a change in a short distance. We drove by the ranch where they filmed Jurassic park and down through a few smaller towns before reaching the resort and meeting up with a few locals, chilling in the hot tub after surfing all day – not a bad Wednesday in my books. Were off to Lei Leis to eat some “succulent prime rib” for dinner then off to bed early to wake up and get on a boat to swim with some fish. Sharks actually. I will add pictures if we survive, but I don’t know who should be more afraid us or the sharks; four Zimmels in a cage floating in the middle of the pacific would be quite a sight. Had to add a note about the surf here at turtle bay. WOW. Im scared just looking out at the water, a bit much for me but we will see what happens tomorrow. An after dinner add on - Steph, Dad, and I stuffed ourselves; again. We each concurred the 28 once prime rib, and 2 bottles of wine while the responsible mother laughed at us the whole time. It must have been a joke at the restaurant too because they brought us a family desert after we were finished; so we ate that too. Too much meat, too much food, just enough wine.
