PermaLink - Feb 6, 2007

i always forget to switch it around before i upload them.... so in all of my picture folders, check them out from last to first... it will make more sense
Another panama title
PermaLink - Feb 3, 2007

allisons brother is a wrestler. not like olympic... like WWF. and it just so happens that there was a show last night. it was sweet! sooooo funny. and they are hard out. like WWF, there is no injures.... EVERYONE got injured last night. they were bodyslamming each other on the concrete hahahaha. but at 10, i had to get back home to get ready for........

party bus!!!!! oh man those are fun. romy, her boyfriend carlos, adelaida, and myself, all went together, but there was like 25 people on the bus total. the bus is driving around panama.... need i say more? they are crazy. you drink, dance, and try to stay upright hahaha. i think its like drinking in a hottub; after you get off the bus, you are TANKED. i dont know what it is... the music or the crazy driver.. but i dont care. that is the most messed up i have been in quite some time! the bus stops twice, once at a discotech on the cosway, and once in the street. as you can see in the pictures, when it stopped on the street people got up on top of the bus and started dancing up there hahaha. what a time.

after the bus dropped us back off, you found me at buzz, and then a karaoke bar. at the karaoke i was wasted and tired, so i headed back to eddies. i opened the door to what i thought would be a quiet night, but instead got carlos, eddie, and another of his friends (sorry dude, i forgot your name!) drinking beer and partying. how could i go to bed now? we through some beers in the cooler and went for a drive. ended up... i dont know where, had some beers, and dropped everyone off. 6 am was telling me to sleep, so i obeyed.

yesterday i also went to old panama city with adelaida and her niece daniella. what a cutie! there is a bit of a story behind it behind old panama city, which i can tell you when i am back, but basically... it was awesome. tylers first ruins hahaha. there is a big watchout tower that we went up, beautiful view. panama... i love you

today i when i woke up, eddie took me to the fish market, where we looked around, had some lunch, bought some ceviche, and headed back home. which takes me to now. the last day in panama :(   this evening everyone is going over to addy's house. she is cooking a dinner that we have been waiting for all week. this guy looooooves lasagna. afterwards, depending on the time, we might hit a wine bar with eddies dad, or just skip it and head straight to "the gallery". it is an electronic discotech..... should be a good experience. cant wait!!

Panama trip 2
PermaLink - Feb 2, 2007

oh god.i know i have been promising everyone a blog here.. and i'm sorry that it took so long.... but you guys, there is so much to do!!! the last thing on my mind most days is, "i should journal".

panama is living up to its reputation (well tyler, not THAT much could have changed... you were here 2 weeks ago). the first few days were full of sight seeing with carlos, and taking it easy in the night. panama city is pretty quiet on sun, mon and tues, so we drank the beers and hung out at allison and eddies place. tonight was a different story. buzz was hoping, and i would have been to, had eddie and i not stayed up all night at the casino (dont worry, no gambling... the casinos here are full of beer and girls too :D ) a 1 hour nap at 11:30 to 12:30, and i was woken up in my ginch by allison and addy for a quick trip to the mall and some lunch. back home for another attempted "catch up" on some sleep. i think 3 more hours doesnt cut it!!

after the girls got ready (romy and addy), it was off to my first panamain discotech. they are pretty cool, but me being so tired didnt make for an AMAZING first experience. a little dancing (i dance shitty at the best of times..... what about after 4 or 5 hours sleep?!), a little drinking, and a few girls made the night as good as i could handle. romy brought her aunt and a friend as well. 4 girls and 1 tyler? down boy..... but the party presented tomorrow nights plans.... PARTY BUS!!!! WOOOOOO!!!! cant wait. its pretty much like the bus drives you around the city, its open bar, and the music is loud. heaven for a canadian in panama.

oh yeah! sight seeing! the canal... pretty cool... i was lucky enought to catch a few boats heading through. HOLY HELL BIG. the pictures dont do justice to the size of these things. i'll have to tell you all when i get back. you know how facial expressions can help ;) ..... the cosway at night.. the bridge of americas....... yup, you could put my name down for kickin it in panama again.

what else.... i dont know! it is cool to have eddie, allison, addy, romy, and everyone else to speak with in good english. i have learned alot about the panamanian culture, and whats going on in the country from their perspective. random chats about politics, health care, and standard of living for panamanians, has given me good view into life in panama as a local.

la bodeguita is loud

anyways, its bedtime, and tomorrow is another big day. everyone take it easy, and i will see you all soon!

End of panama.....
PermaLink - Jan 18, 2007

i think that the worst part of panama is leaving. its not like mexico there. you can eat the beef and drink the water, and never did i feel sick from anything that i ate or drank. the last few days where packed full of events, hence the gap in journals. sorry! but here we go... with more pictures posted, we need a journal to describe what they are pictures of.

as i recall, there was one more trip to the underwear store.... hahahaha. what?!?! its comfy! ryans G will tell you the same thing. woops.. yup i said it. sorry dude. am i?

the last few days where filled with lebenese, italian, and western food, as well as sheesha (i think its called aguilla there) and i big last night with allison, eddie, natalie, romy, adelaida, pilly, and manuel. it started off with a quick italian meal, and few beers at the hotel. we where picked up by adela and romy and headed over to a cool bar in a big hotel. romy used to work there, but luckily she is now a procasa girl!

it was a cool place, pretty trendy and stuff. and their martinis... mmmmmm. we where joined by allison, natalie, pilly, and manuel. i have to say.. some good company! after a few hours there, we had to say goodbye to adela and romy :( miss you already! but the night moved on. we found ourselves at a night club called la bodeguita. its was a cool place too. good music and lots of dancing, accompanied by red bull vodka (oh yes... the craze is world wide). but the night had to end. a quick after hours feed at nikos and it was time to say goodbye to natalie and allison as well :( (miss you both too!).

the pack up and shower session took up until migel pickued us up from the hotel to go to the airport. after no sleep, the bush jokes where funnier than they had to be, but we have established that you cant fool me again. the airport floor made a nice bed for an hour and a half, before boarding and heading off.

panama.... its not over! where do i put my name for another flight in 2 weeks? yes.. he's thinking about it. a random week off here, and a quick trip to the bank might provide pictures of one more apartment reservation.

to the people we met in panama....

thank you so much! it was amazing to have met you all. i cant wait to come back, and see and do everything else that we didnt have time for. you where all so much fun to party with, but untill i'm back..... keep it suave tigre! love!

a social party and 2 malls later.....
me and ryan went to allison and eddies social party last night, and what a time! ryan was pretty bagged from the night before, so he might have a different story to tell, but being the one in on the drinking games, i had a sweet time!

panamanians are all about the drinking games. "more more more! lets play a different one!". they are on a mission to get canadians tanked haha. but we persevered, and kept our dinner down.

we left our mark on them in a way i'm not sure properly reflects the canadian image...... they had never shot gunned beers before... so canada introduced them. there was one guy there that couldnt get enough, he would have done 10 if his girlfried let him. all in all, it was a good night. beers, laughter, cute girls, amazing view, music, and good weather. cant complain!

we got to sleep at about 5am again, and slept till 2. woke up, went for a swim, had showers, and off to albrook mall. the taxi we were in on the way there was brutal haha, he had to bomb start it in the middle of the street hahahaha.

the shopping was not bad, but nothing really caught our eyes. so we grabbed another cab and headed to multiplaza, another large shopping mall. i think we didnt have enough sleep, becuase i'm sure the mall was better than we made it. sign me up for going again, sans droopy eyes.

after a nap here we are going out to another discotech tonight. should be good, and another day in panama is polished off :(

PermaLink - Jan 13, 2007

unico... hello! underwear shopping in panama... were on day 4 here now, which saddens me, as half our trip is already over.last night we went to allison and eddie's place for what was planned to be dinner, but turned into a huge night.

allison cooked us a very common panamanian meal. it consisted of rice covered in a sort of chili (mostly beans) and some chicken cooked in a very tasty sauce. wash it down with 20 atlas and a several shots of some sort of blue mixture, and the night was a success.

allison and eddie speak very good english (they even know sayings and things. eddie is always "all in" hahaha) so we were able to talk all night about all kinds of things. its was good to get the facts about panamanian lifestyle.

and the view... their apartment is on the "third floor". the buildings here have above ground parking, so there is 6 floors of parking, then a floor for "social" which has a pool, lounging chairs, movie room, kids room, etc, and then 3 more floors to allisons. right in front of the ocean, and you can see the whole city skyline.

the night capped at about 4:30 or 5 am, as the other nights have as well. tired again hahahaha. tonight we have dinner at a fine restaurant with allison and eddie. afterwards they are having a party with all their friends at the social in their apartment, which me and ryan will be attending. excited? uh huh!

at 2am tonight we will be going to a discotech where allisons dance studio is performing. should be interesting to see what sort of show they put on. but best of all, free tickets from allison to the disco means open bar! not like beers costs much, but still nice.

oh i forgot what the middle of the day had in store! sorry for jumping around. we went to multicentro today, which is a mall here in panama city. the mall is interesting. pretty big first floor, and then floors 2, 3, and 4 made my walking legs beg for their lives. sign me up for some puma shoes here. oooo.... yeah. bought some underwear from one store, where one cute panama chick worked. we are sort of like superstars here. they havent had much tourism here, and especially at the places where we have been going. so people just stare at you. walk into a shop in the mall, they great you, then stand 5 feet away from you and dont blink until you say gracias and leave. blonde hair and white skin puts you on display.

and thats it! hopefully have some more pictures from the party tommorow so you can all see the social area, and eddie's cute sister hahaha. hola natalie!

PermaLink - Jan 12, 2007

can anyone say unreal vacation? ryan and i spent most of the day with allison again. another tour of the city, another good lunch, and many more good pictures. ryan purchased apartment number 1 today, and is deciding now on apartment number 2.

allison.... could you have hooked us up any better? dinner at her place tonight with herself, her mother, husband, and her 1 year old (dylan, what a cutie). aparently we MUST taste a good panamanian meal. i'm not one to argue. the food should be good and the balboa is on her... WOOOO

ryan, tyler, and allison are becoming quite the threesome. after eating at her place tonight, we go back tommorow for her house party. a panama house party... dont know quite what to expect, but either way it will be an experience most tourists dont get to enjoy.

shopping tommorow... anyone need puma shoes? we have another packed day tommorow, which i look forward to journaling about, but for now its sianara
Panama journal 1
PermaLink - Jan 12, 2007

panama day 2 and its been non stop since arrival. ryan and i got it in our heads that we needed to wax a bit of everything in the first 24 hours. now as we sit and journal, it is purely for the reason that we cant do a whole lot else!

travel... wake up wednesday morning at 3:30, pick up ryan, airport at 4:30. now i'm not sure if any of you have been stuck at the gates that early, but the tim hortons wasnt opened yet! so after waiting 30 minutes for coffee, and another 2.5 hours more for our flight, we were on the way. the flight was not bad, 3hrs 32min to houston, layover for an hour, and 3hrs 32min to panama city. on the second leg of the flight, we sat next to a guy from venezuela.... i put my name down for a trip there next.

panama's first lesson... wait. the lineup through customs was brutal long, and they were in no rush to make it shorter. everyone here is like that. food preparation, or whatever. it is a relaxed lifestyle,  and noone is in much of a rush.

we grabbed our bags and walked out to the pickup area, where migel was eagerly awaiting someone to answer to the name ryan fyfe.

15 minutes to the hotel in the back of a kia and we were here. the ladies at the front counter were a bit um.... silly? sure. they would not let us in unless we printed our room voucher off. we were like.. "its in the computer right?" and she was all "well si senor, but we need the voucher." crazy bat. but we got in eventually.

the rooms looked better on the internet

moving on.... we dropped off our stuff, threw on some clothes and headed down the street for dinner. niko's was where we ended up. it is a little chain of cafeteria style food, and fanta. pretty tasty though! after polishing a gyro, we hailed a cab and ended up at krystal moon night club.

wow

the clubs here are incredible. you pay your cover charge and then its open bar all night. booze is cheap here or something.... they have many labels of domestic beer, but we chose to stick with "balboa" which is also the name of their money here. now balboa is tasty, but i never want to wake up with that headache again. you can expect me to switch brands tonight.

we woke up to allison's phone call at 10am. hadnt we just gone to bed? we got ready quick and headed out in migel's kia once again. he dropped us off at the building promoters place where we met allison in person for the first time.

day 2 in panama was scheduled to look at apartments, as ryan is considering the purchase of one. it worked out really well for everyone, as we also got one of the best tours of panama city that we could of asked for. she hooked us up real nice. showed us some sort of friuty drink that they have, and a good lunch at la spaghettoria. the condo's that we saw where nice, but nicer yet were the pictures we scored from some pretty choice floors of high rise apartment buildings.

i'm not sure what time we got back. wait do i? ah yes.. nap time. a quick one and it was off for dinner once again. which brings us to the makings of this journal. what does the rest of the trip have in store? well, you can look forward to hearing of more club experieces, shopping, tour panama city part 2 with allison, and then some sweet plans for saturday night.
Share MY life?
PermaLink - Nov 20, 2006

share my life? do i share my life before now? or just start sharing now? thinking about how long this journal could end up if i do the preceding years, or the years to come, i scratch the idea and decide to share nothing at all. maybe a random this or that just to blab, but other than that, if you want the story of tyler, you'll have to ask the creator, the guy with all the sweet hookups.

is there i minimum length for these things? best not find out.

2 guys walk into a bar... the owner of the bar turns to his buddy and says "see those two guys? there the ones with all the hookups"

tyler.... what are hookups?

brooks..... thats with 2 o's, brOOks.... what a life. 4 days a week in a hotel room and sanity is questionable. new apples make the stay more pleasant, but what of the battery life? being attached to the wall isnt bawling. the creator keeps me here... "sign up to enterinside, sign up sign up sign up." i know the rest of you have heard the same story.

bedtime... thats what time it is when you need sleep... when it's late....what is late? is late a time or a feeling? with a usual bedtime of 6 o'clock, and it being 9, hookups is keeping me up late.
